Terms of Service

1. What Dottd Does

Dottd lets account owners collect birthdays, anniversaries, and other important dates from friends and family through a shared link. Submitted dates sync automatically to the owner’s Google Calendar or through a universal calendar feed, and can include an optional photo. Account owners can also add their own dates directly.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

You must be at least 13 years old to create a Dottd account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your Google account used to sign in, and for all activity that occurs under your Dottd account. Notify us immediately at dottdapp@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.

3. Your Content

Content you add. You retain ownership of any dates, photos, and messages you add to your account. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that content as necessary to operate Dottd, including syncing it to your Google Calendar.

Content submitted by others. When someone submits a date through your shared link, you are responsible for how you use that information within the bounds of these Terms and applicable law. Submitters are responsible for the accuracy and appropriateness of what they submit.

Prohibited content.You may not use Dottd to submit or store content that is unlawful, harassing, abusive, or that infringes someone else’s rights. We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate this section.

4. Google Calendar Access

If you connect your Google account, Dottd requests permission to create, update, and delete calendar events on your behalf, limited to events created through Dottd. You can revoke this access at any time through your Google Account settings, though doing so may limit or disable core features of the Service.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or another user’s account
• Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including through scraping, excessive automated requests, or attempts to bypass rate limits
• Use shared submission links to collect information from people without their knowledge or consent
• Upload malicious files or content designed to harm the Service or its users

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

6. Third-Party Services

Dottd relies on third-party providers, including Google, Cloudinary, Neon, Vercel, Upstash, and Resend, to operate. We are not responsible for outages, errors, or data handling practices of these providers beyond our control, though we select and configure them to protect your information.

7. Service Availability

We aim to keep Dottd available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features of the Service at any time, with reasonable notice where practical.

8. Termination

You may stop using Dottd and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, or if we discontinue the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ends, and we will handle your data as described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Matrix HQ will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including loss of data, missed events, or reminders that were not sent or synced correctly. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim arose.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or in-app notice. Continued use of Dottd after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, without regard to conflict of law principles.
